Nerf Guns Banned on CU-Boulder Campus

Misc. | Posted by Andrew Wasyluk December 4th, 2009

So I was reading the local paper and I came across this article that blew me away. I didn’t know that Nerf guns were all thatNerf Gun popular on campus but I guess I was mistaken. I’m pretty sure that this all stems from the concealed-weapons debate they are having at CSU right now, but c’mon…Nerf Guns? They’re saying you could be arrested if you are caught with one, and that sightings will be treated like real gun sightings. Wtf does that mean? Are they going to shoot you if you are behaving in a suspicious manner? This is absurd, but REAL!!! What’s next, squirt guns?

Anyway here is the original news article from 9NEWS.com:

“BOULDER – If you’re caught walking around the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Nerf gun, you could be arrested. Notices have been posted around the campus’ dorm buildings, warning students that Nerf gun sightings will be treated like real gun sightings.

Nerf guns have been popping up around CU this week, after some students started playing the popular game “Humans vs. Zombies.” It’s similar to the game of tag.

The humans are supposed to shoot the zombies with Nerf guns to keep them away.

Since they’re not allowed to use Nerf guns, students are now using rolled up socks.

“It seems to me that if we go through the proper channels, they’ll let us use them in the future,” sophomore Tyler Benjamin said.

More than 600 students are signed up to play the game at CU.

University Police said they haven’t had any issues, yet.

The game continues through the weekend. It starts at dawn and ends at dusk. “

And for all of you thinking this is some kind of hoax, you are wrong…. 100% REAL and 100% REDICULOUS!

Two Speed Limit Signs That Dare to be Different

Misc., Pictures | Posted by Andrew Wasyluk November 9th, 2009

When I first saw these speed limit signs I thought they were a joke that someone was trying to play on the people who live in my neighborhood. Turns out they are 100% legit road signs that just happen to be the only speed limit signs (at least that I’ve seen) that do not end in a five or a zero. Instead one is 14 MPH and the other is 12 MPH. I thought this might interest someone out there or give a good laugh to anyone that reads this post. Anyway if you know of any other speed limit signs that dare to be different please reply to this post and upload a pic if possible. Thanks

14mph 12mph

What the hell are these people thinking?

Misc., Pictures | Posted by Andrew Wasyluk October 8th, 2009

We have all seen some funny cars while traveling the roads of the US and other countries, and I would like to share some of the ones I have come across while living in Colorado. The first one I came across while walking back to my house in Boudler from getting some food on The Hill (those of you who know Boulder know what this is). From a distance it just looked like the car had a shoddy paint job but as I walked closer to it I realized that it was not paint I was seeing, but ASTROTURF… yes astroturf. Someone had the grand idea of covering their entire car with astroturf!!! What the hell was that person thinking??? It may be hard to visualize but so you can see exactly what I mean by covering the car in astroturf, here are some pics I took:

Astro Turf Car 1 Astro Turf Car 2 Astro Turf Car 3

Now the second car is more of a”Damn thats pretty sweet” than “What the hell…?” kind of vehicle. I was driving down in Denver and came across a white station wagon that this kid pimped out to look like the Ghostbusters vehicle. Lights, sirens, spinning sattelite dishes, wires, the whole nine yards… This thing even plays the theme song from a PA speaker he mounted on the outside of the car. Here are some pics and a video to show you the whole car in action:

And the video: ghostbusters-car

This third car is just plain absurd and screams out “White Trash!” I don’t know if these people let their children doodle on the car to deter them from drawing on the walls in their house but whatever it is it looks like a bunch of five year olds did it. And the funny thing is when I was taking these pictures the people in the car were smiling and waving at me thinking that I was so awe struck and amazed that I just had to take pictures of it. Little did they know I am now ripping on their abomination of what they call their “daily driver” and straight up laughing in their face… What the hell are these people thinking???

I’m Back!!!

Misc. | Posted by Andrew Wasyluk October 8th, 2009

Hello Again Everyone!

Well, hello to those of you that have checked out my blog in the past and those who may view it in the future! It’s been a while but now I’m back and will be updating my blog more frequently now that I have the means to. Unfortunately I dropped my Mac Pro and completely destroyed it, and in doing so lost all my previous music projects and applications that allow me to make my tunes. It took me a while to get another computer and to re-load everything I needed to produce the sweet luscious sounds that come from the ideas in my head through the neurons in my brain down to my hands which click the mouse and prance along my MIDI keyboard which in turn activates the mechanical neurons in the hardware which travel through the USB 2.0 cord down into my new MacBook which processes all of the input and culminates into my music and other various items posted on this blog.

Excuse the above run-on sentence as I know it could be cut up in a more grammatically correct way but Im too lazy/excited to move on to more meaningful posts…MOVING ON….So I’m glad to be back and have one project I am working on that I would love some feedback on, along with other posts that some might find humorous and interesting. I just want to say thanks for anyone who might view this blog and comment as I appreciate anything that ya’ll might think about my blog…and thanks for visiting!

Boulder, CO Wildfires Consume Over 1,000 Acres

Misc., Pictures | Posted by Andrew Wasyluk January 9th, 2009

Two wildfires that started Wednesday, Jan. 7th in Boudler, Colorado have burned more than 1,000 acres of forest area and came dangerously close to homes in the surrounding areas. The Neva Road and Old Stage fires, which started Wednesday afternoon, are 100% contained but local residents are still concerned about hot spots from smoldering stumps and other brush that were not fully extinguished. The two fires burned within a perimeter of over 3,000 acres and 1,008 acres were completely scorched by the blaze.

The fires were started by downed power lines from wind gusts that reached over 80mph on wednesday. Wind speeds of over 40mph made it a challenge for firefighters to keep the blaze under control during the afternoon, but by early Thursday morning they had most of the fire contained. Over 11,000 local residents of the Boulder/Niwot area were forced to evacuate the area, and many of these residents lived on properties where animals were kept. Extra efforts by the Boulder Sherrifs office had to be made to assist in the evactuation of horses and other animal residents of the endangered properties.

As of today Friday, Jan 9th, the two fires are 100% contained. A total of six structures were damaged or destroyed: three houses and three outbuildings. There were also two firefighters injured as well as one police officer. As winds died down early Thursday morning it made it easier for firefighters and emergency personell alike to extinguish the fire and return the evacuees to their households. Today all evacuees were allowed to return to their residences, but some are still worried about the hotspots as wind gusts have been reported as high as 50mph today.

I want to extend my personal thanks to those that assisted in this emergency as they did an excellent job in extinguishing the fire and helping the citizens of Boulder and their animals in evacuating the endangered area. I’m sure the end result could have been much worse if the firefighters got to the area later than they had; then the City of Boulder would have been endangered, and that would have been a hectic situation to deal with. Below are some pictures of the fire:

If you build it, they will come…

Misc., Uncategorized | Posted by Andrew Wasyluk December 2nd, 2008

Hiya everyone,

As you can see the blog is quite lacking at the moment… due to the fact that I just had this made for me a few days ago. Anyway, I will be posting all of the music I have been recording lately at my house in Boulder, CO (where I currently reside) and I would like some constructive criticism on it as it gets released.

I know what some of you may think: great heres another wannabe artist… I assure you this is not the case. I have been working really hard on producing these songs that will be uploaded in the coming week or two and many, many hours of work has gone into them. Im not looking for fame or fortune (although it would be nice) but just some comments on how people like it, and any thoughts on any additions I should make to songs, things along those lines…

Anyway I hope to get a few visitors here that will eventually spread the word about this blog and hopefully, in time, people will be letting me know what they think of my creativity and spare time… As someone somewhere once said: If you build it, they will come… I sure hope so
